Meet the experienced and friendly doctors who make Schertz Vision Source the leading provider of vision care products and services in Schertz.

Dr. Debra Barnes

Dr. Barnes is originally from North Carolina and graduated from Southern College of Optometry. She was an active duty Air Force Optometrist from 1978 to 1985.

Dr. Barnes founded Schertz Vision Source, a member of the Schertz Chamber of Commerce and Randolph Area Chamber of Commerce, in 2000. Dr. Barnes is a member of the Bexar County Optometric Society, Texas Optometry Association, and The American Optometric Association.

She is married and has two children, a son who graduated from Texas A&M University and a daughter who is currently attending the University of Texas in Austin.

Dr. Michelle Buttlar

Dr. Buttlar graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society.

Prior to optometry school, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of North Texas. She has served as President of the Bexar County Optometric Society and a member of the Texas Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Dr. Carly Gentry

Dr. Gentry is a native Texan from San Antonio. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science from the University of the Incarnate Word. She continued her studies at the
Rosenberg School of Optometry where she graduated Cum Laude in 2017.

Dr. Gentry and her husband, who is active duty Air Force, are the proud parents of a young son.

Dr. Gabrielle Luna

Dr. Gabrielle Luna was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology from Texas State University. She graduated from UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry in 2021 where she received her Doctor of Optometry degree. Dr. Luna completed her clinical externships at VAMC Gainesville and Eye Centers of South Florida where she obtained extensive training in ocular disease.

Aside from spending time with friends and family, Dr. Luna enjoys shopping, traveling and trying new restaurant spots around town.
